All of us who enjoy the pleasures of an RV or travel trailer are keenly aware of the importance of a solid brake system when piloting 7,500 – 20,000 pounds of pleasure craft through challenging terrain such as Colorado . It's areas such as this that make you truly appreciative of having paid attention to some of the following warning signs:

1) A pulsating sensation in the brake pedal, or shimmying in the steering wheel when slowing down, especially in heavy braking or from highway speeds.

2) Pulling to one side or the other when applying the brakes.

3) A “soft” or “spongy” feeling brake pedal when the brakes are applied, which may be accompanied by reduced stopping ability.

4) An increased or inordinate amount of brake pedal travel, which also could be accompanied by a reduced stopping capacity.

5) Brake pedal travel is reduced from the normal distance, which may also be accompanied by a binding sensation from the brake system.

6) A “ hard” feel in the brake pedal when the brakes are applied, usually requiring a substantial amount of additional pressure to achieve the same stopping results.

7) Metallic grinding sounds when the brake pedal is applied.

If you are experiencing any of the preceding symptoms, or anything that causes you concern, please contact the staff at RV Masters Inc. as soon as possible for an evaluation. You may have a very minor situation which will require no service at all, or there could be a major issue that leaves catastrophe looming just around the corner.
